Used Vehicle Spotlight: 2009 Ford Shelby GT500Oct 18th, 2019
It’s time for another used vehicle spotlight with Lally Southpoint Ford! This series is dedicated to casting a light on the best pre-owned vehicles we have to offer the Chatham-Kent area.
We have something extremely special for you this time around, a mint-condition 2009 Ford Shelby GT500! This incredible high-performance muscle car has just over 33,000kms on it, and comes in a sinister black-on-black colour scheme with dark grey racing stripes. We are asking $43,900 for this piece of Americana, which is entirely fair given the ridiculous amount of performance on offer!
This Shelby, in true muscle car fashion, is all about the engine. A supercharged 5.4L V8, derived from the legendary Ford GT supercar, delivers an earth-shattering 500 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. Performance estimates from Ford estimated that the GT500 will hit 100 km/h in around 4.5 seconds and fly through the quarter mile in under 13 seconds. May we suggest taking this one to St. Thomas Raceway Park?
Breaking somewhat from tradition, this GT500 comes with a multitude of luxury fittings that would make the original Shelby’s blush with embarrassment. Leather sport bucket seats embroidered with the Cobra logo welcome you in, where you’ll find items like a navigation system, a 500-watt stereo, satellite radio, cruise control, and multicoloured interior ambient lighting. The rear seats are also surprisingly commodious, as is the trunk, making this muscle car more practical than you might imagine.
The Shelby Transformation
Trust us when we say that you’ll never forget being behind the wheel of a Shelby. Taking a Mustang and turning into a 2009 Ford Shelby GT500 took a lot more than simply throwing a massive engine at it. The Shelby offers drivers fender flares with wider tires front and rear, performance suspension, upgraded brakes, and a full aero kit for extra stability at speed. Plus the Cobra badging front and rear ensures no-one will mistake this for your standard Mustang.
